Batch Import Wav Audio Files In Logic Pro 9

Often times we find ourselves with a folder of wav or aiff files when we are collaborating with others who do not use Logic.  Unfortunately selecting File>Import Audio File is not the most efficient option because it only allows for importing one file at a time. This is really inefficient  if a ton of tracks need to be brought into Logic. However Logic Pro 9 and 8 have a nifty little media browser built in to the interface.

First select click on the Media button to display the media area if it is not already open.

Click on the Browser tab to display the built in file browser in the Media area and locate the files you want to import.

At the top the media tab there are 3 navigation buttons. The button with the Monitor icon will display the system drives. The Home button will display your home directory and the Briefcase button will open the project folder.

Select the files that you want to import by using shift + click (to select a contiguous selection) or apple + click (to select multiple files) then drag and drop the files in to the arrange area. Logic will then give you the option to “Create new tracks”, “Use existing tracks” or “Place all files on one track.”

That’s all there is to it. As you can see from the last screenshot Logic imported all the files I selected to new tracks and used the file names for the track names. One last note on Importing audio, you can also drag and drop the files directly from the OS X Finder and have the same options available.
